@ The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s

Right off the bat, we’ll let you know that this development is a BEAST. Comprising over 550 total apartments across four buildings, The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s feels less of an apartment complex and is more reminiscent of a small European village.

Scanning the grounds, you’ll find things you just won’t see anywhere else in Boston. The Fatima Shrine still rests near the entry welcoming you in as you wind up the driveway. To the west is a cloister garden and walking grounds. You can really feel the history here.

The original Monastery constructed in 1906, now dubbed Overlook Landmark, has been retrofitted with 28 unique apartments- two of which fill the bell towers on the North and South ends. The building still retains much of its character through painstaking restorations evident with the Resident Lounge adorned with 8’ high stained glass portraits and gracious entry way & staircase. It’s impossible to compare this building to anything else in Boston and it lives up to it’s lofty expectations.

Overlook East, aka Phase 1 of The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s, opened in May 2020. Totalling 127 units across all sizes, this building too does not disappoint. The units are spacious, well appointed and select units have incredible views of the Boston skyline. The laminate hardwood floors have a reclaimed wood look to them and the kitchens are equipped with stainless steel appliances including a smooth top range and pull out faucets. The standouts are the spacious 3 bed // 3 bath corner layouts and the Jr. 1 bed’s- essentially a studio with sleeping “room” which offer great value for the space.

Take a Virtual Tour

Overlook East also offers a resident lounge on the south side of the building complete with a full demonstration kitchen. Right outside, you’ll find a grilling station on the outdoor patio along with a life-sized chess board and putting green to practice your stroke.

One can argue that these two buildings alone can position The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s on top of the heap of luxury stock in the Boston area. But we haven’t even told you about the best part.

Maker Hall, the original cathedral on the St. Gabriel’s property went through a multi-million dollar restoration and is now the site of The Overlook’s bountiful amenities. This building is truly a sight to behold and we can promise you that you haven’t seen anything quite like it. The 50+ foot domed ceilings is, I suppose appropriately, decorated with an enormous halo-like LED light illuminating the stained glass accutroments along with walls. The concierge desk welcomes you at the front and the main level is decorated with seating spaces to the left and right along with several small office spaces and conference rooms near the back. There’s a large coffee bar (soon to be staffed by a local coffee shop!) as well as a bar-area in the rear with beer on tap!

The lower level of Maker Hall holds an 8,000 sq. ft. gym equipped with all the newest gym fodder and an adjacent spin/yoga/barre studio offering virtual classes. An art studio showcasing local Boston-area artists is coming soon and will be open to the public.

Overlook North and West comprising of another 398 units is scheduled to open April/May 2021 and a condo element of the development to begin construction soon as well. The community and all buildings will be connected with well-lit walking paths with bench seating and small congregation areas. Once Overlook North & West are open, we’ll bring those buildings along with a walking tour to you in an upcoming Inside Look.
